Spring Exploring Fall Fun Groups / Corporate Event Tours General Information

We strongly encourage feedback from our visitors as an ongoing effort to provide you with the utmost in customer care and learning experiences. School & Group Farm Tours



Stonehaven Farms is now offering several fun and educational farm tour options, where school group tours are curriculum driven with activities that are fun, engaging and encouraging for students to become aware of and interested in the local community, farming and the environment.


Our tours are customized to meet your needs, and we will happily discuss your focus and program requirements at time of booking. Our tour guides are Ontario certified retired, current occasional, and new graduate teachers as well as gifted individuals are here at  Stonehaven as your exceptional tour guides.  Our scheduling ensures that only your individual school/group with a low student to Stonehaven guide ratio is present on the farm. The Junior Kindergarten to Grade Three tours are based on the Ontario Science and Technology, Social Studies, Health and Physical Education Curriculum as laid out by the Ministry of Education. All other grade levels including university can also be accommodated.


We also welcome private and corporate groups.


We offer a Spring Exploring programs in June and a Fall Fun program September - October that can be modified…..



General Tour Information

  • tours are 1 ½ hours in length
  • groups are welcome to remain after their tour to utilize our picnic facilities/Kidzone under their own supervision
  • there is a minimum group charge for 20 children per tour guide
  • teachers and adult helpers are free of charge up to a 2:1 ratio (children to adult) for daycare/nursery school groups and a 5:1 ratio (children to adult) for Junior Kindergarten to Grade 3
  • additional adults/siblings age 3 and up, will be charged the regular group rate
  • confirmations/invoices will be sent via fax or email prior to visit
  • payment is due at time of tour plus HST
  • programs run rain or shine
  • our covered wagons can accommodate 30-40 people each
  • washroom facilities and picnic tables for nutrition breaks are available


Please note:


1. Although covered wagons and a covered classroom/snack area are used, activities do take place outdoors. Please ensure that children are dressed appropriately for the current weather conditions (link to current weather conditions) and physical activities (i.e. boots)


2. Our programs offer a variety of experiences, so we must keep to a strict schedule therefore, we ask that you arrive promptly at your reserved time…. if for some reason your group arrives late, we may have to shorten or omit some activities.




Spring Exploring - "Sweet Strawberries"


Our June program includes a wagon ride with a visit to a strawberry field where students have the opportunity to pick a few strawberries to eat and enjoy a guided strawberry blossom tour, a healthy snack and free play time in our covered sand box, straw climbing pile, straw bale maze or kiddies straw pile, in addition to your selection of further educational components (listed below).



Fall Fun

All fall program programs include a wagon ride, a visit to the pumpkin patch where students can explore and harvest their own pumpkin, a class pumpkin, a healthy snack and free play time in our covered sand box, straw climbing pile, straw bale maze or kiddie straw pile, in addition to your selection of further educational components (listed below).




The EDUCATION COMPONENTS consist of a compilation of activities which will be modified to meet the learning levels and outcomes of each group. These may include:


  • seasonal changes on the farm
  • plants we eat
  • the importance of fresh fruits and vegetables
  • the role of physical activity in our lives
  • how strawberries grow
  • how corn and pumpkins grow
  • water and soil management
  • energy sources
  • crop management and conservation
  • the role of bees
  • farm machinery…past and present
  • early farming methods
  • farm safety
  • fall celebrations
  • songs/stories


Groups/Corporate Events

(minimum charges apply for groups less than 20 people)


We will be pleased to arrange:


a) A scenic/ educational wagon ride tour ….questions encouraged along the way!




b) A corn maze adventure …….night adventures by flashlight are also available!




c) A complete customized tour……just ask!




Scenic/Educational Wagon Ride Tour


  • 45 minutes in length
  • covered wagon(s) can accommodate 30-40 people each
  • is available May to October
  • reservations required


Corn Maze Adventure

  • are available late August thru October
  • wagon ride to and from the maze is included
  • covered wagon(s) can accommodate 30-40 people each
  • maps are provided for you to locate “stations” within the maze
  • attendant(s) is on duty for assistance at all times
  • reservations recommended for daytime visits
  • reservations for night adventures by flashlight are required
